At Orchard Yacht Services we are aware that most clients want to have close involvement in the design and build of their new yacht but most will welcome support in ensuring every detail is addressed. From developing the initial concept to the final performance trials we can provide all the services necessary to make the client experience a pleasure rather than a burden.
Orchard Yacht Services offers a professional project management service to clients involved in the construction or refurbishment of large motor or sailing yachts. We can provide full life-cycle support including all or some of the following functions to suit the needs of individual clients:
Yacht specification – to clients exact requirements
Orchard Yacht Services work with the client on a one to one basis to develop the initial specification and to set it out in a format that will enable the designers to produce initial designs meeting the client’s key criteria. This stage also helps to identify who might be the appropriate designers depending on the type of yacht that the client requires. It may also give a first indication of which builders will be able to undertake the work
Identification of suitable interior/exterior designers and naval architects
Orchard Yacht Services will use the initial design specification to identify a range of suitable designers and naval architects for the client’s approval
Identification of appropriate boat builder
Orchard Yacht Services will use the initial design specification to identify suitable builders and availability of yard space for your project
Contract preparation / dispute resolution
Orchard Yacht Services in house legal team can prepare appropriate contracts for the design phases and the build. Where ever possible standard forms of contract are recommended as the basis for the project specific contract and these would be tailored to suit the specific needs of the project. The need for flexibility is well understood for bespoke designs and we are experienced in managing such matters to ensure the client’s wishes are delivered. The contract is the corner stone of a successful project ensuring that the client’s and contractors positions are fully understood from the outset and are managed effectively throughout.
In the unlikely event of a significant dispute between the parties our team bring the experience necessary to ensure speedy resolution thus avoiding expensive delays.
Schedul integration / Project coordination
Orchard Yacht Services are specialists in the integration of complex projects. This is achieved by developing and implementing comprehensive project controls from the outset through utilisation of industry standard scheduling and control software packages to compile and control data from each of the contractors
Cash flow planning
Orchard Yacht Services can utilise many years of experience to develop and manage the most appropriate cash flow algorithm for your individual project. This will facilitate efficiencies for both customer and contractor and help to avoid delays and disputes and will remove unnecessary financing costs.
Critical component sourcing
Orchard Yacht Services both directly and through our associate companies can provide a world wide critical component sourcing service. This can include everything from basic structural materials such as specialist steels through to complete propulsion systems, control, instrumentation and communications systems and even special finishing materials to client’s particular requirements.
Stage payment management
Orchard Yacht Services are experienced in managing stage payments to contractors usually based on a measured value added system. This would be done either by our own staff or depending on location utilising independent quantity surveyors working to our specifications.
Construction inspection of key features
Orchard Yacht Services can provide the technical expertise to carry out most of the technical inspection required on major construction projects to ensure the highest quality standards at all stages.
Quality control and Insurance Certification
Orchard Yacht Services team have a proven track record of managing major projects to the highest safety, quality and environmental standards. They will also manage the interface between designers, constructors and the relevant marine insurers to ensure that all work complies with their demanding standards for Completion Certification
Test schedule approval
Orchard Yacht Services can provide or arrange for independent approval of all relevant plant and system test schedules and have the necessary professional expertise to undertake test and inspection activities as appropriate.
Commissioning inspection and Sea trials / performance testing
Orchard Yacht Services can undertake comprehensive commissioning test and inspection functions to confirm that the completed vessel meets all the requirements set out in the contract. This would complement the role of the Insurance Final Inspections and would address a much wider scope than that required by the Certifying Authority
